Plaque 4: Prings Hall
Prings Hall was built around the 1450s and is a fine, rare example of a 1½-storeyed, timber framed 'Wealden Hall House’ , common around the Weald of Kent. These houses typically had three bays, but the northernmost one of Prings Hall was demolished in around 1600 but with a first 1st floor addition and inglenook fireplace. The building was sympathetically restored from a dilapidated state in the 1960s over 25 years by a private owner, including reinstatement of a service wing and characteristic ‘hipped’ roof. It is Grade 2 Listed.
