M3 junction 9 improvements. Weekend closures

Weekend Closures

This summer there are a series of weekend closures of the M3 junction 9 roundabout, which are needed so the contractors can complete essential road connections to the new roundabout and bridges on the interchange.

These closures will mean the M3 is open through junction 9 but the slip roads which lead on and off the junction will be closed.

Other local roads leading to the junction will also be closed over these full weekends.

Weekend closure dates:

• 9pm Friday 31 July to 6am on Monday 3 August
• 9pm Friday 21 August to 6am on Monday 24 August
• 9pm Friday 11 September to 6am on Monday 14 September

Weekend closure details/locations:

• A34 southbound will be closed from Bullington Cross
• A34 northbound will be closed to Three Maids Hill, also closing the A33 northbound
• A33 southbound will be closed from the Cart and Horses junction
• Easton Lane will be closed both north and southbound at the Easton Lane Roundabout
• A272 will be closed both northbound and southbound from the Spitfire roundabout (A31)
• M3 junction 9 entry and exit slip roads will be closed both northbound and southbound
• M3 junction 9 northbound entry slip road will remain closed from 9pm Friday 31 July 2026 until winter 2027 – this means you won’t be able to access the M3 northbound from the roundabout – from 3 August the diversion will be M3 southbound to junction 11 and return to the M3 northbound.

Further diversion routes and travel information will be added to the website closer to the time to help road users plan their journeys.

Diversion routes are designed to suit all vehicle types.

It is recommend that you not use a Satnav when following any of the diversions because there is a risk it could direct you down an unsuitable road or back onto our network when it is closed.
