Paignton Torbay Bowling Club is situated in the middle of the English Riviera in Torbay, Devon just 200 yards from the fabulous Paignton Sands and just yards away from the shopping area, along with the mainline Train and Bus stations. Paignton Torbay Bowling Club was founded in 1920 and is affiliated to Bowls England and Bowls Devon.
As a registered Community Association Sports Club our doors are open to all, whatever their age, gender, race or ethnicity.
The club consists of three sections the Men’s, Ladies and the Visually Impaired Club. The club has about 100 members, which means that unlike several other local clubs, with more members, you are normally able to play a roll up on the Green when you want, or more likely to be selected for representative matches against the other clubs. Sometimes small really is best ! We welcome new members of all ages to either play the game or become social members. Social events are held throughout the year including barbecues, fish & chip evenings and the club annual awards evening, at the end of the playing season.
Our playing surface is maintained by D.G.M Turf Care in association with our own green keepers.
We are regularly asked by the Devon County Association to host matches, and the Devon County, Section 6, will use the green to play the their competition knockout rounds, semi final and finals games.
We offer bowling to suit all preferences, from friendly social bowls such as roll-ups and club days, and friendly matches against other clubs.
For the more competitive player there are the local leagues. Our own internal club competitions and there is the opportunity to enter into the County and National Level games.
The club is represented in various Devon County Competitions along with the Men’s Mid Devon League, The men's Over 55’s triples league (2 teams) and the Ladies in the South Devon League plus the Riviera mixed Triples league
We extend a warm welcome to touring bowls clubs, so if you are thinking of touring Torbay then the Paignton Torbay Bowling Club is an ideal venue for a match.
We can provide seven rinks, a bar, catering and WiFi facilities all at very competitive prices. There are many local Hotels along with B & B’s, within yards of the club that will suit all tastes. Together with the many Devon Pubs and Restaurants, this makes us the ideal location for a Club Tour to consider, as the base for their visit.
