The Clerk

In order that I provide the best service to residents and support to councillors, I am a member of the Society for Local Council Clerks (SLCC) and I am also an Associate member of the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (AICCM). I am the Responsible Financial Officer for the council. I try and maintain good relationships with outside bodies such as Dartford Borough Council, Kent County Council, Kent Highways, local funeral directors, stonemasons, street lighting contractors and so on. Two days are never the same.

A parish clerk has to try and be a fount of knowledge about many aspects of Local Government such as planning, finance-budget setting and control, street lighting, grounds maintenance, public rights of way, burials and interments and much more. It's a never ending learning curve.
