Funding & Support from your Community Foundation
Grants are available across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin!
The Fund aims to strengthen the achievements, prompted by the Games, offering community organisations access to new funding to make a difference for the people they work with. The Fund will serve as a catalyst to address inequalities, forging deeper connections between individuals and organisations to continue the legacy of the Games.
This Fund shares the four original core mission principles of the Commonwealth Games:
- Bringing people together
- Improving health and well-being
- Helping the region to grow
- Putting the region on the map
Grants will be available for works, activities and services that will contribute to the four core missions, and which fall within one or more of the following three themes:
- Physical activity and sport

Shropshire Council launches a £150,000 fund to support community projects
Shropshire Council has today (Wednesday 27 September 2023) announced an £150,000 fund to make it easier for people in Shropshire to improve their local area.
In partnership with Spacehive, the community fundraising platform, the Crowdfund Shropshire programme will enable local residents across the county to exclusively access funding for community improvement initiatives.
The crowdfunding nature of this programme, in collaboration with local authority funding, maximises the amount campaigners can raise in order to deliver transformational community projects that matter to them.
Shropshire VCS Assembly, Shropshire Infrastructure Partnership, Shropshire Council and Spacehive are keen to hear from Shropshire residents who have an innovative idea to improve their local area to get involved.
No fundraising experience is necessary, 65% of Spacehive creators are creating a community project for the first time. Spacehive assists project creators with online workshops, 1-1- support and resources, providing advice on everything from project costs to campaign promotion.
The Crowdfund Shropshire launch event is on Wednesday 11 October at Wem Town Hall with tea and coffee on arrival for a 2pm start, and the council is encouraging individuals and community groups to come along (in person or virtually) and find out more.
