SSEN Works in the local area.

The road closure forms part of SSE’s Alton to Bordon investment project; installing 18 km of electricity cable to boost the power supply, and future proof the electricity network for homes and businesses in the Alton and Bordon area. The road closures, are subject to change, but are currently scheduled to take place:

SSEN have changed the dates to help young people taking exams. During this 6 week period the road will be open in both directions. Although the period of works appears to be longer, the actual number of days that SSEN will be working is the same as before. SSEN have said that once the clocks change, they may be able to work extended hours, which may shorten the time scales.

As a result of various discussions with SSEN and Highways, SSEN will start work on Worldham Hill, working upwards to the Alton end of the village, shortly after the planned works on Green St have begun. Green St will be closed to through traffic, and work through Worldham will be undertaken under traffic lights, to allow residents in Worldham to access their properties. The B3004 from Worldham to Alton will be open but to Kingsley will still be closed until work on Green St is finished. The aim is to finish all the work in Worldham by 5th May rather than originally planned by mid-October.

The original timescale was for Green St to be closed from March to 5th May, and through Worldham from August to mid-October. This is yet another change to the timetable but SSEN new plans means that hopefully the disruption in Worldham should now all be finished by May.
