Captain's Day 2016

Bishopthorpe Bowling Club Captain's Day 2016

A great afternoon was enjoyed by all members present on the one occasion each year when we really let our hair down.  On Sunday 14 August our annual Captain's Day was organised by Robin Hood (Club Captain - Ron Munro) and one of his Minions (Competition Secretary - Gerry Tredgett).  With a Spider Competition, a Triples Competition with a difference, optional Fancy Dress and a delicious afternoon tea provided by members, the day was a resounding success and our thanks go to Ron and Gerry for all their hard work.

The Spider Competition was won by Jack Burgess, whose wood apparently travelled all the way to the jack without touching any of the other woods.

The Triples Competition was organised on a "Round Robin" basis, but with a diminishing number of bowls, three bowls each for the first two ends, then two bowls then one (quite difficult), and then move on to play the next team.  The Competition was won by Sherlock (Geoff Gardiner) Holmes, Annie (Margaret Gardiner) Oakley and Karen (Thing 2) Jarvis.

By popular vote, the prize for the best Fancy Dress costume went to Franco-nstein Napoletano!
