Club Day - Sunday 20 August
Bishopthorpe Bowling Club
On a lovely sunny day we held our annual Club Day, the one day in the year when we let our hair down for a fun afternoon. This year the theme was Sports, and members turned out in the costumes of various sports from footballers to scuba divers. The winners of the best dressed sporty types were Mick Tillett (Fisherman) and Ian Hodgson (Snooker Player).
The proceedings commenced with a Spider Competition and were followed by a bowling contest between members resident in Bishopthorpe and those resident in outlying districts (Bishopthorpe v The Rest). The Rest were the winners!
Our thanks to Jane and Gerry O'Keefe (Captain) and Julie Taylor (Vice Captain) for organising the event, together with supporting members of the Committee, and to Gerry Tredgett (Competitions Secretary) for orchestrating events on the green.
