Boughton-Under-Blean started their week on Tuesday with the men visiting Herne Bay for a Forrest of Blean match. Herne Bay 122. Boughton 76

Winning Rink: Dave Waters, Neil Webber and Mick Cousins won 21-14

Thursday and the club hosted the ‘Ladies Benevolent Triples’. Boughton entered two teams into this competition, and despite team A winning all of their three games, they were second in their group. Team B won two of theirs, the club jointly came in third, due to shot difference. Well done to them.

Team A: Liz Chapman, Karen Fletcher and Linda Prior

Team B: Barbara Hadler, Ann Cousins and Mary Mellet

The winners were Ashford Rail and in second place Canterbury.

Much effort went in to the organising of this charitable event where the raffle raised around £250 for the bowls Benevolent fund. Boughton donated a further £100 to this worthy fund. Thanks to all the volunteers at Boughton for the Catering,(where Jan and Chris rustled up meals out of thin air) the green, (which looked fantastic and was was much admired) the bar ( which had a good day) and all the other duties which made this event such a success. Thanks to all those who gave their time.

Saturday Boughton were hosts to Cheriton in a return friendly match. Boughton 64, Cheriton 102

Winning rink: Brain Peterson, John Wade and Mary Mellet

Also on Saturday, two teams from Boughton attended the spin off event from the Forrest of Blean league, the annual Millennium cup. This year it was Herne Bay’s turn to host and despite pressure from rivals Canterbury, Boughton won through for the first time since 2008.

The winning teams were: John Agate, Dave Chapman and Trevor Lyons

Tim Prior, Mick Cousins and Colin Hadler

Sunday saw Boughton travel to Thanet for a Catherine Wheeler match. Boughton 88 , Thanet 102.

Winning rinks: Rebecca Spiers, Julia Woodward and Charles Marsh won 18-13

Tim Prior, Liz Chapman and Colin Hadler won 23-9
