The Speed Limit Review Panel recently met and considered Broughton Parish Council’s request for the introduction of a section of 40mph Speed limit between Broughton and Cransley after data was collected from the Speed Indicator Device (SID) which was placed on Cransley Hill in March/April 2021.

Broughton Parish Council are pleased to report that the Panel supported the introduction of a 40mph speed limit along this section.

North Northants Council/Highways have a significant number of requests each year for new or amended speed limits throughout the county and the most efficient and practical way of assessing these is to collate them into annual reviews separated into the North and West Northants Areas. The only downside of this is the length of time it takes from agreeing a request to implementing the restriction but NNC/Highways hope that the legal/consultation process will be completed and the signs installed around Spring 2022.

In the interim, they will arrange for the existing 30mph signs on this approach to the village to be upgraded to high visibility yellow backed signs to highlight to drivers the start of the 30mph restriction.
