Community Speed Watch update and call for volunteers

In 2020 the Clive Community Speed Watch group was set up. Trained and supported by the police, the sessions have been running since then, resulting in several speeding drivers receiving letters from West Mercia Police. The group has monitored speeds across several designated sites working in teams of three within the village at different times of day.

Recent findings

On several occasions speed watch volunteers have recorded motorists speeding in excess of the 30mph limit. At the February session on Hebron Close, a common site for speeding, 3 vehicles were captured above the 30mph limit, the fastest travelling at 41mph.

Call for more volunteers

Residents are encouraged to join the Community Speed Watch group - the more volunteers they have, the more flexibility they have in the sessions we can run. Commitment is not onerous, and they use a WhatsApp group of members to allow people to easily opt into a session they wish to commit to. The equipment is easy to use and they work in teams of three, so you can choose which task to do.

What is involved if I volunteer?

  • a police check
  • a 1 hour training session delivered by our police CSW support officer
  • a commitment to volunteer when you have some spare time

Please email the coordinator Matt Alexander if you are interested in becoming a CSW volunteer.
