The Parish Council received several reports from concerned residents about fireworks being set off in the parish over Christmas without prior warning. This caused severe distress to a number of pets, with some dogs remaining distressed long after the displays had finished, and in one case a dog required veterinary care as a result. Fireworks can also cause serious injury to horses and livestock.

If you are planning fireworks, please remember to notify neighbours and local farmers well in advance. It is not just a courtesy, but under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 it is also an offence to cause any unnecessary suffering to any captive or domestic animal, and in some cases there could be claims made for vet bills. If you own holiday let properties within the parish, please make sure to share this important information with your guests.
