In line with a government proposed initiative for observation of the National Minute of Silence for Reflection at 8pm on Sunday 18th September, the Parish Council will hold a short event in The Square, Droxford.

For those wishing to join others in the community to observe the silence, please bring a candle or a torch as it will be dark.

Details of the National Silence are as follows:

A Moment of Reflection on the Eve of the Funeral of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

By 1955 members of the community will gather at The Square, Droxford.

At 1958 the Chair of the Parish Council will welcome attendees.

At 2000 a bell will ring to mark the start of the period of silence.

Silence will be kept.

At 2001 the bell will ring again to mark the end of the Silence.

Having not been read previously within the Parish, the Proclamation of The King’s Accession will then be read.
The proclamation ends with the words “God save the King” and all present respond, saying:

God Save The King

The first verse of the National Anthem will then be sung:

God save our gracious King!
Long live our noble King!
God save the King!
Send him victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us,
God save the King.

On conclusion of the National Anthem, attendees will leave The Square.
