Dymchurch beach has been named as one of country’s best beaches by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy in its prestigious Blue Flag & Seaside Awards for Summer 2022.

In total, 151 beaches in England have been presented with an award recognising the quality of the beach, the way it is managed and the facilities it offers to visitors, and this is the first time that Dymchurch has won a Seaside Award

Chris McCreedy, Chairman of Dymchurch Parish Council, said:

“Dymchurch is one of only 128 beaches in England to have won a 2022 Seaside Award, and just 3 Parish Councils made the winners list. This coupled with the new Beach Supervision service provided by Folkestone Rescue means we have two reasons to be proud of our beach this Summer.

Our volunteer litter pickers do a fantastic job in helping to keep the beach tidy along with Veolia, F&HDC & our local businesses, it is truly a joint effort to keep the area safe and clean. The Parish Council are proud that this has been recognised with a 2022 Seaside Award.”

For the first time in 2022 the Parish Council are supporting Folkestone Rescue to extend their beach supervision service to cover the beach at Dymchurch. Volunteers can be found at the main slipway every weekend between 10am and 5pm. Volunteers will also be on hand daily during the main school summer holidays to provide information, advice, and first aid.

Chris McCreedy, Chairman of Dymchurch Parish Council, said:

“The Parish Council are pleased to be able to support Folkestone Rescue in expanding their services to cover the beach in Dymchurch for the 2022 season. This will help keep families safe while enjoying a day out on the coast.”
