Our 120th Birthday

We really felt that we couldn't let our 120th anniversary go by unnoticed (well, any excuse!), so to mark this special occasion we had a roll-up (we are after all a bowls club) followed by a celebratory meal. After this we took the opportunity to look back over this time, from our beginnings in Butterfly Lane, our move to Halons Road, the numerous developments and improvements leading up to the present day, and the challenges facing us as we look forward to the next 120 years.

An added bonus was an interesting talk given by our celebrity guest, Margaret Mizen on her charity, the Mizen Foundation prior to her cutting our special birthday cake.

Cancer Research Day 2026

For some years now Eltham Bowls Club has run a special event to raise money for Cancer Research UK. This year 7 teams of 4 took part in a round robin format competition, with each game consisting of 4 ends. There were prizes of £60 for the winners (which they kindly donated back to Cancer Research UK), and £30 for the runners-up.

There was a £1 penalty for failure to wear something pink, and a further £1 penalty for any wrong bias bowled. The day was rounded off by a delicious meal, courtesy of the local Cancer Research fundraising committee (lasagne and salad followed by a selection of desserts, mostly home made). A great day, and some generous donations contributed to a magnificent total of £392.22 raised for Cancer Research UK.

Any further donations gratefully received on this PayPal Giving Fund!
