Welcome to Ovingham Parish Council website

Ovingham village lies in the Tyne Valley in the south of Northumberland, approximately 10 miles east of Hexham. The village is bordered by the River Tyne to the south. Wylam lies to the east, Ovington to the west, Horsley to the north and Prudhoe to the south.

At the time of the 2011 census, the population stood at 1222 with 528 households.

The Parish Council meet 9-10 times a year and its meetings are held in the Pavillion, usually on the third Thursday of the month, at 7.15pm and are open to the public. There are 8 Councillors in total.

Residents are welcome to attend these meetings which are advertised on the website and notice board.

The Parish Council meets to consider issues affecting the local community such as planning applications, highway matters and environment. Two representatives of the Parish Council sit on the Ovingham Burial Committee along with two from each of Wylam, Horsley and Ovington Parish Councils. The Parish Council is also represented on the Ovingham Pavilion and Playing Fields User Group, Reading Room Committee, East Tynedale Forum and attend meetings organised by Essity.
