Meet the Coaches

  • Gilly

    Gilly

    Started bowling in 1986. Now a Coach Bowls National level 2 coach, Tutor and Assessor.
     

    Involved in coaching for over 14 years.

    Passionate about the all  inclusive nature of bowls - coaching all ages and abilities from 6+ to 90+.

  • Amy

    Amy

    Amy started bowling in  2015 in  the Lifecentre as a junior. 

    She qualified as a Nation Coach Bowls Level 1 Coach in 2023. 

    She has played for the Devon county colts. 

    She achieved her England cap with Disability Bowls England playing in Home Nation matches and  represents the Plymouth Lifecentre club in County team matches.

  • Ray

    Ray

    Ray started bowling early 2019, with the main aim of learning a new sport prior to his retirement.


    He qualified as a National Coach Bowls Level 1 coach in 2023 and has been DBS advanced checked.

    His working background was with adults with learning difficulties so is also very passionate about the inclusivity of bowls.

  • Val

    Val

    Val started playing bowls in 1983.

    Val played for Gloucestershire outdoor in The Johns Trophy and Double Rink. 

    Val got her DBS in 2023, and will be attending a safe guarding course in February 2024

    Val has been coaching since 2000, as she wanted to give something back to the sport.

  • Alan

    Alan

    Alan started bowling in the mid 1970’s at the Civil Service Club Plymouth as part of the Drawing Office bowls team.

    Alan qualified as a National Coach Bowls Level 1 coach in 2021 and is Chair of Trustees for Plymouth Mayflower Specials and co-founder of Special Olympics Plymouth & District which provides sport for people with Intellectual Disabilities and is also very passionate about the inclusivity of bowls.

    Alan wants to change attitudes towards people with Intellectual Disabilities and provide opportunities to achieve their potential and dreams through bowls.

     

  • Graham

    Graham

    Graham has been a Coach since 2014.

    Graham first started bowling with the Disabled Club in the Mayflower Centre, about 37 years ago.

    Graham is currently the Chair of the Disabled Club, and the Disability representative on the Life Centre Management Committee.

  • Mike

    Mike

    Mike started bowling in the early ‘90’s.

    Playing outdoors at Tothill and indoors at Civil Service, Mayflower and The Life Centre.

    Qualified coach since 2008 at all abilities level 2, both DBS checked and Safe guarding.
