Applications are invited for the position of Clerk of the Council and Responsible Financial Officer at Rodington Parish Council.

Rodington is a civil parish in the borough of Telford & Wrekin which was formed in 1978. Rodington Parish Council is in the first tier of local government. The parish council consists of seven Councillors and the Clerk, together the council plays a vital role in representing the interests of the local community.

We are seeking an experienced Clerk to lead the parish council. You will be the Proper Officer of the Council and have a statutory duty to carry out all the functions required by law.

This is a multi-award winning Council with a successful history and exciting future ahead. You will be part of a team that will lead a Road Safety Scheme for the Parish, invest in local events and more up the scale of Quality Council awards.

You should have strong leadership and management skills and experience of working in Local Government. You will be responsible for ensuring the council receives the advice and information it requires to ensure good governance. We are looking for a highly motivated and community focused individual to take the lead on the council projects.

Duties include: the preparation of agendas, minutes, accounts, payroll, pensions and PAYE, budgeting, invoicing and payments, report writing, cemetery management, liaising with organisations and members of the public, management of projects and events.

The salary is based on 35 hours per month and will be calculated according to the National Joint Council for Local Government Services (NJC) rates dependent upon qualifications and/or experience but will be within the range SCP 24 (£16.02 per hour), with expenses for Home Office Allowance and milage being paid at the national rates. A CiLCA qualification is desirable, but not essential as this course will be offered.

Attendance is required at the parish council meetings held at alternative Village Halls in Rodington and Longdon upon Tern on the first Wednesday of every month, except August. The Post holder will also Clerk committees’ other meetings as and when called.
