Queen's Green Canopy 2022

Saturday 26th March 2022

Abdon Village Hall takes part in the Queen's Green Canopy Campaign

An oak tree has been planted in the garden of Abdon Village Hall to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee year. The planting was organised by Abdon Village Hall Committee, and the ceremony took place on Saturday 26th March 2022 at the coffee and cake morning. A plaque next to the oak tree will be unveiled at the Abdon Platinum Jubilee Party on Thursday 2nd June. The event was part of the Queen's Green Canopy campaign, which is a national project to promote the importance of trees for the environment, and to ensure that as many trees as possible are planted as a lasting legacy. The location of the tree will be added to the map on the Queen's Green Canopy website.

Pictured below are Margaret Buckingham (Chair) and Helen Audin (Secretary) planting the oak tree, together with some of the people who attended the event.
