The Village Green

The Village Green

Claydon has a small village green which is located by the bus shelter at the junction of Manor Park and the main Mollington road. In the autumn of 2024 a planting project has been launched using an area of ground adjacent to the bus shelter. 500 bulbs have been planted here, including English bluebells, single snowdrops, wood anemone and winter aconite bulbs. A mix of perennial and annual wildflowers are being added to the area both in the autumn and in the spring of 2025. Our ambition is to make Claydon into a haven for wildlife, butterflies, bees and so on. We dont know how this will work but are doing our best to make a success of things.

The lower area of the green is dominated by a huge horse-chestnut.

All trees on the village green and in the playing field are the responsibility of the Parish Council. We monitor and maintain the trees on a rolling basis under the supervision of professional surveyors and arboriculturalists.
