Welcome to Colchester West End

 

Founded in 1926, we are a small and friendly club that welcomes bowlers of all abilities and ages from young to “not-so-young”. We have a growing band of young bowlers - more welcome!  Drop in any time on Friday nights from 6/6.30 to have a look round our large clubhouse. Someone may buy you a drink!  

Members enjoy playing in both league and friendly matches throughout the summer season. We are also really keen to have novice players. They bring us new blood and hopefully some new jokes!

Our men's teams play in the Colchester Borough Triples and Fours Leagues and our ladies play in the North West Essex Ladies Triples League. We also play in the Sudbury Mixed Triples League. We have club competitions and Fun Days which are enjoyed by all. No club runs itself and we expect every member to participate in the general running of the club such as cleaning, helping with catering and putting out equipment. The committee also needs new faces on a regular basis without which nothing happens. We would like newer members to get involved when they feel able.

The club has exclusive use of six rinks and free tuition is available for those beginning the sport to help get you started - all you need is a pair of flat-soled shoes. Come and try it - gentle exercise and make new friends!

We have a centrally heated clubhouse featuring a  licensed bar, lounge area, dining room and kitchen, and, of course, toilets and changing facilities for both male and female members. There is also a snooker room with full size table. There is free car parking on site. The club holds a wide range of social events throughout the year.
