Ladder League

We are proposing to introduce a Ladder League to the competitions available for the summer season 2024.

The Ladder League is planned to give an opportunity for newer bowlers and those who aren't progressing in the knock-out competitions to participate in more competitive games throughout the season to build their experience.

Some of you may be familiar with the concept of a Ladder League as one has been introduced in the the indoor bowling club over this winter season, we are proposing to test interest in running both a Singles and a Pairs competition.

The rules of the Ladder League will be;

  1. You will be placed initially in the league table in random order.
  2. You may challenge anyone in the league a maximum of 3 places above or below you in the ladder.
  3. You should try to play a variety of players in the league - matches will be monitored to ensure that stronger players do not repetitively select newer players.
  4. Results of games played should be shared with the Competition Secretary, who will manage the movement of positions on the league table (text messages, emails and an e-form will be provided / accepted for this purpose).
  5. The two players / pairs who win the most games will play off on one of the Club Finals Days
  6. Once a challenge is arranged, the match can take place even if positions on the ladder change due to other results (for example, your opponent moves to four places above due to another result).
  7. If the player / pair you challenge has already booked a match, you may challenge the player / pair above them.
  8. If the higher placed player / pair wins, there will be no change to the positions on the league table.
  9. If the lower placed player / pair wins, they then move to the position of the higher placed player / pair, and the higher placed player / pair will move to the space below them on the league..
  10. If you decline or cannot arrange a suitable time or date within 2 weeks of the challenge, the challenger will be awarded the win.
  11. The League Tables will be maintained on this website so that they are visible to all members.
  12. Rink fees will apply to the games played within the ladder leagues.
  13. For the Singles matches, use of a marker is by agreement between the players. It is recommended a marker is used, and it is hoped that these matches will offer opportunity for more members to gain experience as a marker, however it is not mandatory.
  14. In the event of a dispute, the Competition Secretary's decision is final.
