Parish Priority Statements

South Downs National Park Authority is the Planning Authority for our Parish. They are currently updating the Local Development Plan in a process which started in Dec 2022 and Parishes are being consulted on this through a new initiative of Parish Priority Statements. These are intended to inform the plan making, not direct planning decisions.

These Statements need to reflect the views of the Parish as a whole, not just those of the council, so the Parish Council is looking for a group of interested Parishioners to help to collect these opinions and put together a coherent list of Priorities. These are the only way that we have to influence the planning process, and hopefully not just improve the Parish, but the National Park as a whole.

Example areas which these may cover are: Vision for the Future, Development and Management of Lane, Homes, Design, Natural Environment, Jobs, Public Spaces & Infrastructure. The SDNPA need to have the statements back by October 2023 following endorsement by the Parish Council. Community engagement is key to the process of influencing the SDNPA’s Local Plan and more information will be available at the Annual Parish Meeting on 18th May at 1900 in the Village Hall, when we will be looking for interested Parishioners to take on this interesting task.
