WeCAN Network Event

Thursday 29 September from 7.00 - 8.30pm.

The venue is in Winchester city centre, not far from the train station:
St Peter's church hall, Jewry Street, SO23 8RY
The event will be focused on the Circular Economy - how we can reduce carbon emissions by keeping products and materials in use for as long as possible.
There'll be inspirational and informative presentations from:
  • Clare Seek, founder of Portsmouth Repair Cafe and Plastic Free Portsmouth - read more about Clare here
  • Winchester School of Art (WSA) - all about how to set up Trash Fashion and other sustainable clothing events.
Plus we'll have a practical workshop delivered by Lisa Burn-Hunter, a Senior Teaching Fellow at WSA who has worked internationally in fashion knitwear design. Lisa will be demonstrating how repairing old clothes can be an opportunity to upcycle them - everyone will be able to make their own corsage patch using recycled textiles (or pom-poms for those less confident in sewing).
We'll also hear from the Winchester Repair Cafe group, who will be holding two launch events in September. And it will be a great opportunity to catch up with other people around Winchester District taking action on the climate crisis.
