SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN (FOR FREE PARKING)

Residents and visitors can deck the halls in Folkestone & Hythe thanks to a gift of free Christmas parking.

Charges in district council car parks and on-street pay and display bays are once again being waived on the three Saturdays leading up to the big day:

  • Saturday 9 December
  • Saturday 16 December
  • Saturday 23 December

Cllr Polly Blakemore – Cabinet Member for Transport, Regulatory Services and Building Control – said: “Our district is home to a wonderful range of independent traders with amazing gift ideas. We hope this initiative will generate even more of a buzz ahead of the Christmas season.

“This time of year is especially important for local businesses and we hope this small present will bring them – as well as our residents – some festive cheer.”

Limited waiting (free) and controlled parking zone restrictions are still in place on the days listed above. This is to ensure people are able to park close to their homes and allow for a sufficient turnover of spaces.

Residents can also apply for a permit to park in council-run car parks all year round for £71.20.

This allows you to park your vehicle for three hours in long-term car parks and two hours in short-term car parks. Terms and conditions apply – visit here for more information.
