Testing of new equipment at Shaws footpath crossing
We wanted to let you know that we’ll soon be working in your area to test and commission the new railway crossing equipment installed last year (the red stop and green go lights), and install new signage.
We’ve listed our planned shifts below, but please note this can change. We’ll need to manage access to Shaws crossing whilst we work so we can keep everyone safe, so please do bear with us, and avoid using the crossing during these times if possible. Wednesday 22 February One overnight shift: Midnight Tuesday – 7am Wednesday Friday 24 February One daytime shift: 8.30am – 5pm
The new equipment will be in use from 5pm on Friday 24 February, but please do familiarise yourself with the new process before using the new crossing for the first time.
1. Check that the green light shows.
2. If the light is green, cross the railway quickly.
3. If there is no light for any reason, please revert back to ‘Stop, Look, Listen, Beware of Trains’ guidance.
We don’t expect this work to generate much noise, but we know we’ll be working near your home. We’ll do everything we can to keep any unnecessary disruption to a minimum, but we’re sorry if we do disturb you at any point. We hope this information is useful, but if you have any questions then please do get in touch.
