Topple Testing at Fern Lane Cemetery

The Parish Council, which has responsibility for the maintenance of the cemetery carries out "Topple Testing" on headstones every three years. This is carried out by a registered contractor, under the regulations governing the maintenance of cemeteries. All headstones which were deemed to be unsafe have been laid flat by the contractor. A list of these is on display on the noticeboard, along with a list of headstones which need attention.

It is normal practice to “topple test” headstones periodically, and very common for some to become unstable over time. Only qualified stonemasons are permitted to erect or maintain headstones in order to ensure the safety of visitors to the churchyard.

If you are concerned about a family headstone, please contact the Parish Council: clerk@littlemarlowparishcouncil.org.uk
