Proposed plans for an observatory dome at Rodington Village Hall

Rodington Parish Council has submitted a planning application to Telford and Wrekin Council for an obervatory dome at Rodington Village Hall. This is collaboration between the Parish Council, the Rodington Village Hall Committee, and the Shropshire Astronomical Society, and is the start of an exciting project to install a permanently located observatory housing a mounted telescope.The Astronomical Society will continue to host monthly meetings at the village hall, and will also begin to host monthly winter observing meetings.

Last year the society started running Introduction to Astronomy sessions for beginners, and with the introduction of a powerful telescope within the observatory, residents of Rodington parish will have the chance to find out more about the night sky, as well as the unique opportunity to experience what it is like to see the Moon or a planet through a significant telescope.

The Parish Counci is pleased to be able to contribute to this project by applying for full planning permission for the dome, and welcomes any questions from residents regarding the planning application.
