July 2026 Updates:

  • Website Review Members are currently reviewing the Parish Council website to ensure it complies with government guidelines and accessibility standards. Further updates will be shared as the work progresses.
  • Volunteers Needed – Homestead Park Verge We are still looking for volunteers to help cut back the verge on the street at Homestead Park. If you could spare some time to help, please contact the Clerk.
  • Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) – Funding Enquiry Deadline A reminder of the next deadline to submit a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding enquiry form. June 2026 Updates:

  • This month’s meeting focused on approving the 2025/26 audit papers and reviewing the governance documents for 2026/27.
  • We are delighted to welcome a new parish councillor to our team. Nick Haugh joins us with fresh perspectives that we’re sure will benefit all our parishioners.

  • The Village Hall will be holding a re‑opening event on Saturday 20th June. Parish councillors will be attending to celebrate the completion of the new floor, which the Parish Council helped to fund. All residents are warmly invited to attend.
  • Cllr Nick Hardingham is aware that a few households have still not received their blue lidded bins. Please email recycling@baberghmidsuffolk.gov.uk with the full address and postcode, and in the meanwhile continue to put all your recycling (including glass) in the green lid bin. May 2026 Updates:

  • We are pleased to announce that the recreation ground is now open. There are still a few finishing touches to complete, but for the moment we hope you enjoy the facilities and hopefully the good weather too.

April 2026 Updates:

  • We are carrying out the necessary remedial work so we can reopen the recreation ground as soon as possible. While this is underway, we invite parishioners to share their views on the future of the recreation ground - send your comments to the Clerk.
  • Pleased to share that we’ve been granted a licence for two 20mph flashing signs. We hope to have them installed near to the school very soon.
  • Hopefully you’ve already spotted the new noticeboard at Homestead Park. If not, do take a moment to pop over and have a look, we’re really pleased with how it’s turned out.

  • We will shortly be sending out invitations to parish organisations to join us at the Annual Assembly (previously known as the Annual Parish Meeting). The meeting provides an opportunity for village organisations and services to share their activities, interact with parishioners, and recognise the efforts of their members.
  • And finally, we’re looking forward to meeting parishioners at the village fete in May, where we’ll be promoting the People & Place Plan (P&PP).

March 2026 Updates:

  • Pending essential repairs, the Parish Council has agreed to close the play area on the village recreation ground until further notice, as it was deemed unsafe following a recent inspection. Councillors attended the site to secure the area by fitting a padlock and displaying a notice to inform the public that the equipment is currently unsafe to use. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank residents for their understanding while we work to ensure the play area is safe for everyone. ·

February 2026 Updates:

  • Progress is being made on the 20mph flashing signs, and the licence application has now been submitted to Suffolk County Council.

  • We are pleased to announce that two further Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) applications have been approved: the re-positioning and replacement of the hedging between the cemetery and the footpath, and additional funding towards the village hall floor.

  • The results of the speed survey conducted over a one-week period from 26 January show that the average speed of vehicles entering Scott’s Hill from the A1120 was 24 mph, while vehicles exiting Scott’s Hill averaged 13 mph. These findings do not indicate average speeds in excess of the current speed restriction.

January 2026 Updates:

  • We were delighted with the level of public participation at our December meeting, particularly regarding concerns about traffic speeds through the village. Thank you to everyone who attended and shared their views. For information, the latest data from the new speed indicator device at the western entrance to the village shows an average speed of 27.2 mph, with an 85th percentile speed of 31.6 mph.
  • Following this, we are moving forward with an application for 20mph flashing signs to be sited either end of the primary school. Further information will be shared as this progresses.
  • We are also looking to refurbish the playing area at the recreation ground and would welcome suggestions for improvements from parishioners. Please send any ideas to the Clerk (details below).
  • You may recall that we proposed installing a new notice board at Homestead Park. This has now been approved, and we will be proceeding with the purchase shortly.
  • Members have also agreed to the purchase of a new dog bin, which will be installed at the football club.
  • We would like to remind dog owners to please clear up after their dogs. Help us keep our countryside and football pitch clean and free from dog fouling.
