Welcome to the website for Temple Ewell Parish Council, serving the village of Temple Ewell, located 3 miles North West of Dover, and situated in the valley of the River Dour, surrounded by beautiful chalk downland. Population 1797 (2018).
The historic village is set on the periphery of urban Dover, between the busy international ferry, cruise and cargo port and the city of Canterbury, some 15 miles North accessed by the nearby A2 Trunk Road. Temple Ewell has direct access to London Victoria by train, utilising Kearsney station which is at the southern end of the village on the border with the neighbouring parishes of River and Whitfield. The station is also just one stop and a 3 minute journey from Dover Priory, where High Speed services will get you to London St. Pancras International in just an hour.
Temple Ewell has a successful Primary School, historic church of St. Peter & St. Paul and a Baptist Church, and at the heart of the village, The Fox Public House. There is also a Village Hall which is used by the many village organisations.
The village is very well served for those who like to enjoy their recreational time, with a playing field and children's play area and 4 acres of allotments maintained by the Parish Council, as well as several public footpaths that provide access to Scotland Common, The Minnis and neighbouring areas of outstanding natural beauty that lie above the village. You can also follow the course of the River Dour from it's source within the village towards the areas of public parkland at Russell Gardens and Kearsney Abbey. There are also several areas of woodland maintained by the Kent Wildlife Trust, as well as Dragon Wood which is maintained by a group of local volunteers.
