21.04.24 Taunton Vivary

What a wonderful start to the season, our first friendly was played in sunshine, the wind was a bit keen at times but overall we could not complain about the weather. It was so good to welcome our friends from Taunton Vivary and even better to hear the compliments about the green, one player even saying he had not seen it look as good so early in the season before.

It took a little while for some of us who had been playing indoors for the winter, to get our bowls up the green but with determination and strong arms we managed it. Unfortunately the green decided to give our visitors the better runs and as we went in for tea, only one of our rinks was putting up a good fight. This did not improve after tea and the end result was a win for Taunton Vivary.

After the game we enjoyed a drink and a very good chat with our friends and the volume of voices showed how much of a friendly sport bowls is. We look forward to the coming season and will not be deterred by the result, in fact, I'm sure it will spur us on.
