Below is a message from the Office of The Police & Crime Commisioner.

"The OPCC is asking residents and partners to share their thoughts, views and experiences of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).

We want to hear the views of everyone across HIOW. You do not need to have experienced violence or abuse to take part. We are seeking to tackle the root causes of VAWG and prevent such offences from occurring in the first place. We believe that everyone must stand together in this.

As chair for the VAWG Task Group here in Hampshire and Isle of Wight, our Commissioner is dedicated to driving forward positive change:

“VAWG offences cause significant harm and distress to victims and through the task group I want to ensure that we work together to stop these crimes happening in the first place and that when someone is a victim they have the confidence and trust in the system to report it and to seek the justice they deserve.”

The views and feedback received via this call for evidence will help to develop a problem profile for the Commissioner’s VAWG Task Group. This will provide a clearer picture of the scale and impact of these crimes across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, and the actions that need to be taken to prevent these crimes, and better support victims.

Please can we ask you to take the time to complete the call for evidence and to share it with other residents.

We welcome all responses to this call for evidence. We do stress that this survey is not a means of reporting an incident to the police and highlight that if you are looking to report a VAWG related crime triggered by this call for evidence, please do so via online reporting Report a crime | Hampshire Constabulary or by calling 101 ensuring you reference the survey/call for evidence in your submission.

Due to the sensitive nature of this call for evidence, and the need to ask about personal experiences of violence, harassment and abuse (for example sexual assault, stalking, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, etc.) it is important that where needed, individuals reach out to access the support available:

Supporting Victims - Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner (hampshire-pcc.gov.uk)

This call for evidence is open for 6 weeks, from March 8th 2022 until April 18th 2022 11.59pm.

We thank you for your continued engagement in our surveys and consultations here at the OPCC."
