Councillor Richard Ellery

Richard joined Speldhurst Parish Council by co-option in October 2017 and has been an elected Parish Councillor since 2019. He serves as Vice-Chair of the Finance and Governance Committee and is also a member of the Amenities and Governance Committees.

Richard moved to Speldhurst from the New Forest with his wife in 2013 and is proud to call the village home. They have two children and the youngest attends Speldhurst Primary School, giving  Richard a strong appreciation of the importance of supporting local families and protecting the village for future generations.

He works as an IT Architect in London and commutes three days a week, combining car and bike travel, with a 10-mile cycle each way as part of his journey.

Richard became a Parish Councillor because he wanted to make a positive contribution to the community. He is passionate about preserving the character of Speldhurst while supporting sensible improvements that benefit residents. He is committed to ensuring the Parish Council provides good value, listens to local people, and helps the parish remain a great place to live for everyone.
