We have had the following update from SGN about the roadworks on Speldhurst Road, Southborough:

Urgent work to replace a section of our gas network in the Speldhurst Road area is ongoing. This work is essential to ensuring local properties continue to receive a safe and reliable supply of gas for many years to come.

Due to unforeseen circumstances with one of our contractors, we have not been able to progress as quickly as we'd hoped at this location. However, we have arranged a new engineering team to complete the work from Monday 30 January. All being well, the remaining engineering and resurfacing work will all be complete by Friday 10 February.

Speldhurst Road remains closed between its junctions with Reynolds Lane and Charles Street. A signed diversion route via Kibbles Lane, Holden Road and A26 St John's Road is in place for affected motorists.

We appreciate roadworks can be frustrating. We’d like to thank road users, residents and businesses for their continued patience and understanding while we carry out this essential work.
