Poaching and hare coursing are an issue locally and remain priorities under Operation Galileo, the national policing operation aimed at tackling these offences and protecting rural communities.
Reporting Poaching
If the incident is occurring at the time:
Call 999 if offenders are currently on land, there is an immediate threat to people, wildlife or property, or vehicles are actively involved.
Please provide:
The exact location (including What3Words if available).
Vehicle registrations and descriptions.
The number of suspects and any dogs involved.
Direction of travel.
Any photographs, CCTV or video footage obtained safely.
Please do not approach suspected poachers. Instead, make a note of descriptions, vehicle registrations, locations and times, and report the information to police as soon as possible. Intelligence provided by the public is vital in supporting Operation Galileo and identifying offenders operating across rural areas.
If the incident is not an emergency:
Please report the matter via the Kent Police website. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
