Appeal for bus shelter funds
Mickleham Parish Council
The Parish Council chairman, the Rev. David Ireland, has posted the following letter to residents of Mickleham and Westhumble.
Dear Fellow Resident,
As many of you may be aware, the Parish Council has been battling for over two years to gain permission to erect a bus shelter at the Mickleham Church bus stop (opposite the Running Horses). This was originally prompted by the sight of a number of our older residents trying to shelter from the elements whilst waiting for the bus from either direction.
We have, at last, won our battle, thanks in large part to Councillor Will Dennis’ tenacity with the legal aspects of the project.
The result is an attractive looking shelter in keeping with its surroundings, built to last and an attractive addition to village amenities.
The Parish Council has put aside just over £2000 towards its costs and we have been very fortunate to receive an anonymous donation of £4500. This leaves us needing to receive a further £2500 to complete the project.
It has been suggested that the bus shelter bear a commemorative plaque to give thanks for all those nationally and locally who have played their part in shielding us all from the worst impact of Covid 19. We are therefore hoping that you may feel inclined to donate towards the project so that we can get it built and in use as soon as possible.
Donations of any size, small or large, will be greatly appreciated and can be made either by bank transfer to Mickleham Parish Council, sort code 60 07 02, account number 39416828, ref. ‘Bus S Donor’s Name’ or by cheque (payable to Mickleham Parish Council) or cash to St Michael’s Lodge, Old London Road, Mickleham, Dorking, RH5 6DU
We do hope you will wish to express your thanks to all those who have helped and encouraged us in these past months in this way and thank you in advance for your thoughtful generosity.
Kind regards,
David Ireland
