The Friends of Scarborough Valley Gardens is a group set up in February 2019 to support the work of the local council in maintaining and improving Valley Gardens. We hope, through the combination of practical hands-on sessions and fundraising, to make the gardens a much more welcoming environment for residents and visitors.
We have regular Sunday morning work sessions in the gardens starting at 10am. Some members enjoy litter picking, others weed flower beds or put in new plants or bulbs. There are jobs suitable for all abilities and everybody is welcome to join our happy gang of volunteers.
We also have held social events which have included butterfly walks, a visit to Woodend Museum stores, a talk on the history of the parks and gardens of Scarborough and a tree walk.
