Linton is a lovely, rural village and it is such a shame that it is disfigured by all the litter that thoughtless folk carelessly discard in our roads and country lanes.
In an effort to combat the litter Linton Parish Council has organised a series of litterpicks, which have now covered all of the roads in the Parish and many of the footpaths too. We have collected several hundred large bags of litter!

Our Grand Litter Picks normally take place on Saturdays, meeting at Linton church car park or other agreed place in Linton, for a 10am start, with refreshments in the Bull afterwards. Everyone is welcome – all our volunteers say it’s a very rewarding and enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours. If you plan to come along, please drop an email to Caroline Richer so she can confirm the date and starting point, and make sure there is enough equipment on the day.

– start at 10am prompt, usually from Linton Church car park, A229. Check location with Caroline.
– all necessary equipment will be provided (but bring a pair of gardening gloves!)
– the Borough Council will collect the litter bags

The event takes about two hours, a few volunteers may do a circular route from the starting point but most will be bussed to a starting point and then will walk back to the car park so we all finish there about 12 noon. Help (or a lift!) will be at hand if you need it, but you will be given full instructions .. no need get your hands dirty, or to lift fridges or other heavy items!

We get a lot of positive comments from volunteers – it is surprising just how satisfying it can be to fill a couple of bags with litter, and look back at a beautiful country lane that once again looks the way it should. If you are able to take part, please email Caroline Richer.  The more volunteers we get, the easier the job becomes and the more clear it will be that we care about our village.

We will continue to have more events at regular intervals in future  – so watch this space!
