As you may know our class of ’22 Under 9’s performed amazingly and won the Winchester league with a 100% victory rate. These girls and boys started in the indoor training in January 2022 and performed incredibly. Now we want to take that a step further and drive through into the next age bracket and with an extra team at under 9 level.

Apologies for the length of this email. There is a lot to say.

If you would like to join us please see the details below and book onto one of our Junior Cricket courses.

·         Under 9’s runs from 18:00 – 19:00

·         Under 11’s runs from 19:00 – 20:00

·         Parents are welcome to join the adults training which runs from 20:00 onwards

The course costs:

·         £55 for under 9’s

·         £65 for under 11’s

 What’s Included

For Under 9’s the course includes the following;

·         Sports Hall Facilities

·         Coaching from ECB Level 1/2 Coaches and support from a pool of experienced players all of whom are DBS checked with Hampshire Cricket Board

·         Public Liability Insurance

·         Use of all training and playing equipment

·         A free ANBCC Green training T-shirt

The Under 9’s course focuses on building on All Stars fun and games by bringing the four core pillars of cricket into the player’s toolkit. Batting, Bowling, Fielding and Keeping. The group will learn and develop skills in these core areas, then put it all together into game practice to develop the important rounded aspects of teamwork, safety, communication, and sporting etiquette.

For Under 11’s the course includes the following;

·         Sports Hall Facilities

·         Coaching from ECB Level 1/2 Coaches and support from a pool of experienced players all of whom are DBS checked with Hampshire Cricket Board

·         Public Liability Insurance

·         Use of all training equipment – you will need your own personal playing kit

·         A free ANBCC SS Core Sports top

The Under 11’s course advances the teams skills with new drills and more detailed coaching and practice of the four core pillars; batting, bowling, fielding and keeping. We start to use traditional “nets” coaching which gives ball by ball practice and learning.

This also introduces the team to the ”Hard Ball” cricket style where more awareness of safety, positioning, and speed becomes prevalent. For this reason Players will need additional personal playing kit.

Additional Equipment Required

Under 9’s will just need a water bottle and some appropriate clothing. E.g. Clean trainers suitable for indoor sports and sports trousers. The hall can get chilly in January and so long trousers suitable for running might be a good idea, you do not need cricket whites.

Under 11’s will need a water bottle and appropriate clothing such as clean trainers for indoor sport, but also need their own playing kit including;

·         Helmet,

·         Gloves,

·         Thigh Pads,

·         Box, and

·         Legs Pads.

All equipment is available on Serious Cricket or from any sports retailer. If you have any questions or concerns about kit please feel free to contact the club. We are more than happy to help where we can.

PARENTS

We have not forgotten about you…
The hall has a viewing gallery from which you can watch the teams play. Again this can get cold early on so please wrap up suitably. Unfortunately we cannot provide food or drinks here, so if you want to bring hot drinks with you that is great.

If you want to get involved in the youth or adult cricket we are always happy for volunteers. ANBCC would love to start building a girl’s team in 2023, so if there is anyone passionate to support this please reach out. There are currently 100% bursaries for women wanting to become a level 1 coach which ANBCC can facilitate.

Likewise if you would like to play you are welcome to join us, feel free to talk to any of the coaches or players for more details.

We are looking to build a community within the club so we will be repeating our family day and end of season celebration in 2023, but also looking for more opportunities for families (or just the parents) to get together and develop that bond. If you want to get involved let us know.
