Well we ended the season as we started with a well earned 8 points,

such a pity we came adrift in the middle of the season, we can say

that we enjoyed playing every game and our teams are a happy bunch

win or lose. Thank you all for the very enjoyable Tuesday evenings.

Carol, Wyn, Dee and Chris won 17-15

Pam, Gordon, Dave O and Brian won 22 - 10.

Division 5 we will be back.

AWAY TO P.M.L.  30th JULY

Well they say a change is as good as a rest and our game

against the team just above us proved this, when we succeeded

in winning on both rinks, well done all.

Pam, Carol, Dave O and Brian won 18-10

Alan, Jean, Dee & Chris won 19-16

HOME TO CHELMSFORD D  23rd JULY

We played quite well on our rink and even went into the lead at 17 ends,

but playing against Terry Parks as skip was very hard work ( he is such

a great player) and in the end we lost by 2 shots.

The other team never really got to grip with the game and lost by 10 shots

Sheila, Gordon, Deve J and Brian 9 - 19

Carol, Dave O, Dee & Chris 15-17.

AWAY TO HATFIELD PEVEREL 16th JULY

What a totally frustrating evening playing on a very heavy spongy

green, against a skip who could have walked on water.

Carol, Dave, Dee and Chis played well, but the score didn't reflect

it, where we only ever got 1 at a time they scored 4,s and 3,s we lost 9 - 27

Jean, Sheila, Dave and Brian were ahead for 14 ends it then went pear shape

when the opposition scored 3  3,s they lost 15 - 21.

HOME TO WRITTLE 'B'  9th JULY

On a very pleasant friendly evening after leading the whole of the

game we managed to lose on the last end, Alan played his best 2 woods

of the game and was on the jack, Sheila had another near when they

moved the jack and ended up with 5 to win on our rink, the other rink

was on trouble from the beginning not scoring until the 7th end.

Alan, Sheila, Dee & Chris  19 - 22      Jean, Gordon, Dave & Brian  8 - 29.

Better luck next time

Dee

AWAY TO SOUTH WOODHAM FERRERS 2nd JULY

We were very surprised to find that all our players adapted to

the artificial surface extremely well and I was thrilled that we took

8 points from the game. It was a lovely friendly evening, finishing with a visit

to the local community centre for a drink and catch up on the football.

Alan, Wyn, Dee & Chris  17 - 16

Jean, Gordon, Pam and Brian  21 - 18

Well done everyone.

Dee

AWAY TO LIONMEDE 25th JUNE

On one of the best greens I have seen this very lush grass was

wet and heavy, we played against some very ancient gentlemen who

managed to reach full length jacks most ends, on one rink they played

a 94 yr old man who was his wife's carer, he managed to knock Jean

off the jack every end needless to say we lost on both rinks.

Carol, Dave, Dee & Brian lost 16 - 23

Jean, Sheila, Dave & Pam lost 4 - 36

Maybe better luck next week

HOME TO MALDON 18th JUNE

On yet another wet evening, we met some old friends

from Maldon, although the weather was bad we managed to play

18 ends, we lost on both rinks

Alan, Dave O, Dee & Chris 13 - 17

Jean, Mike F, Gordon & Brian  8 - 25

HOME TO PML TUESDAY 11th JUNE

On yet another very wet evening, we managed to lose to a superior team,

we welcomed Dave Osborn back, the outstanding player on our team

was Chris Garnett who managed to score most of our points.

Carol, Dave, Dee & Chris lost 11 - 20 while on the other team they

stayed on 8 for 6 ends, Alan, Gordon, Dave and Brian lost 13 - 22

AWAY TO CHELMSFORD 'D'  TUESDAY 4TH JUNE

On a very wet green we learnt a lesson that you must not be afraid to say

we will take the one we are holding, we had taken just the 1 three times in the game

but I didn't stop Chris bowling his wood and we went down 1 in the 15th end won the

next 2 ends and needed 4 to win in the last end, thought all was not lost when we were

holding 6  but it was not to be, their no 3 played her last wood (the shot of the night) and

went in for shot leaving the score 15 - 12 to them. Well done Alan, Wyn, Dee & Chris.

The other team after 3 ends of not scoring won the next 7 ends making them 10 all then they

got stuck on 10 for 5 ends winning the last 3 but went down 13 - 18.

Well done Jean, Pam, Sheila & Dave

HOME TO HATFIELD PEVEREL

Nice friendly game, with pleasant weather the only fly

in the ointment was a Lady I have know for 25 years Rita Thompson,

on our rink Carol, Alan, Dee and Chris would be holding 3 shots and Rita came in and we went down 4,

right to the end when we needed 3 to win and was holding 3 till Rita bowled and took 2 shots out, we lost by  18-19.

Jean, Gordon, Dave J and Brian G didn't fare so well, and lost by  10 - 14.

Dee

to us all evening, but we managed to score a very good 6 points.

Carol, Alan, Dee & Chris lost by 4 shots 10-14

Pam, Sheila, Dave & Brian won 16-8

Well done everyone.
