King Charles III Coronation

What a wonderful afternoon we had on Sunday 7th May to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.

The afternoon commenced with a fun game of bowls which was organised by Carole, Club Captain.  The game involved rolling the Jack which did not have to be placed on the green.  The nearest wood to the Jack scored 3 points, 2nd nearest 2 points and third 1 point.  After 5 ends those playing moved on to another rink and repeated the process keeping their own score throughout the afternoon.  Colin Wall won the competition with 36 points.

After the game 64 members adjourned to the fabulously decorated clubhouse where an afternoon tea fit for a King and Queen welcomed us.  The spread was provided by Cherry and her helpers, Margaret Hinsley, Sara-Jane Squire, Sandra McDonagh, Richard and Linda Sanderson and Margaret Baker. After the excellent tea we were provided with entertainment by Sandra and Barry on their ukeleles.  They were also joined by other club members who had been learning to play the ukelele and everyone joined in singing well known songs.

A great afternoon was had by all and thanks must go to all those involved including the bar staff, Derek Bakers and Geoff Cox and of course  Mark Piper for providing such a wonderful Green.
