Maldon B Division 3

Fixtures 2023 

May

Wednesday 3rd      Away  v PML - first game for Maldon's 'B' team with a win on all three rinks with a total of 67 shots to Maldon and 48 to PML resulting in 10 points to Maldon.

Wednesday 10th     Away v Burnham B - a good win for Maldon at Burnham resulting in a total of 10 points, winning on all 3 rinks. 66 shots to MBC and 39 shots to Burnham.

Wednesday 17th     Home v Stock B - another win for the team against Stock B winning with 55  to 45 shots resulting in Maldon getting 8 points and Stock B 2.

Wednesday 24th     Away v Chelmsford B - another win for the 'B' team with Maldon scoring 62 shots and Chelmsford B 35 shots resulting in 10 points to Maldon. 

Wednesday 31st     Home v Ingatestone - an excellent evening for the 'B' team who scored 89 shots compared to 47 shots for Ingatestone; resulting in 10 points to Maldon.  

June

Wednesday 7th       Away v Danbury B - Not such a good result this week as Maldon lost on all three rinks achieving 53 shots compared to Danbury's 62.  Unfortunately no points for  Maldon this week.

Wednesday 14th     Away v South Woodham Ferrers - not a good evening for Maldon as they lost on all three rinks achieving 40 shots compared to SWF's 75.  Unfortunately no points for Maldon this week. 

Wednesday 21st     Marconi Cup (1st Rd) Home v Falcon C

Wednesday 28th     Home v South Woodham Ferrers - Maldon won on all three rinks gaining a total of 66 shots compared to SWF's 46 shots resulting in a maximum of 10 points. 

July

Wednesday 5th      Home v Danbury B - Out of the three rinks Maldon lost on 2 rinks. At 20 ends Maldon  were winning on rink 1 by three shots and then Danbury scored 4 shots on the last end.  At the end of the game Maldon had 67 shots compared to Danbury's 57 shots giving Maldon an overall total of 6 points and Danbury 4. 

Wednesday 12th     Away v Ingatestone - Maldon 'B' teams visit to Ingatestone resulted in Ingatestone winning on two rinks and gained 61 shots compared to Maldon's 54 shots.  As a result Maldon only achieved 2 points and Ingatestone 8. 

Monday 17th - Marconi Cup - Maldon visited PML and won 80 shots to 41.  On rink 3 the team, comprising of Geoff Cox, Mark Piper, Eric Dow and Paul Charlton scored a Hot Shot.  Well done to all.

Wednesday 19th     Home v Chelmsford B - an excellent night for the team who won on all three rinks gaining a score of 81 compared to 38 for Chelmsford B resulting in a full 10 points for Maldon. 

Wednesday 26th      Away v Stock B -  not such a good night for the B team who won on one rink, drew on one rink and lost on the third rink resulting in them getting 43 shots compared to Stock's 48 shots.  Total score 3 for Maldon and 7 for Stock.

August

Wednesday 2nd       Home v Burnham B - after a very wet afternoon the game commenced at 6pm and Maldon managed to win on one rink, drew on rink 2 and lost on the third rink.  However as Maldon obtained 42 shots compared to Burnham's 36 the total points for the game were 7 for Maldon and 3 for Burnham.

Wednesday 9th        Home v PML - the B team won on one rink, lost on one rink and drew on one rink but overall obtained winning shots of 56 so obtained 7 points. Team Captain Roger Little said 'Not an ideal result, as whether we are champions, or not, will depend on other results; but the good news is that we gained sufficient points to guarantee promotion to division 2.'

Tuesday 15    Marconi Cup  (Semi) against Burnham B - Maldon won on all three rinks and scored 72 shots compared to Burnham's 40.  This means that Maldon B team now play in the Marconi Cup Final.  Well done to the team. 

September

Sunday 3rd                Marconi Cup (Final) - Maldon B against Stock and Buttsbury.  Maldon B managed to retain the title by beating Stock and Buttsbury 71 shots to 50 on a lovely sunny afternoon.  The team comprised of Rink l - Geoff Cox, Mark Piper, Eric Dow and Skip Paul Charlton; Rink 2 - Peter Saunders, Graham Raven, Ron Thackray, and Skip Roger Little; Rink 3 - Ken Varney, Roger Martin, Peter Holohan and Skip Trevor Matthams.  Congratulations to all the team.  

Friday 8th  Maldon B played Maldon C in a Charity match.  Maldon B won and £120 was raised for Cancer Research.
