Storm Henk flooding grants

As you may be aware the Government have announced a range of grants to support property owners impacted by Storm Henk. More information on the support available can be found via this link: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-payments-for-communities-affected-by-flooding

In order for Shropshire Council to be eligible to offer this funding to residents the Council must first be able to demonstrate that over 50 properties internally flooded as a result of Storm Henk and that this flooding took place between the 2nd and 8th January 2024. If we are not able to meet this threshold Shropshire residents will not be able to apply for this funding. As a result we would appreciate it if you could confirm the number of properties you are aware of internally flooding within your administrative area.

Please be aware that for the purposes of this grant internal flooding only includes the habitable area of a property i.e. living room, kitchen etc, or the flooding of an operational part of a business. The flooding of garages, outbuildings, store rooms, or land surrounding a property will not be eligible.

We are aware that some property owners may not wish to identify their property as at risk for insurance reasons. If you are unable to provide specific property addresses the number of properties and the general area in which they are located would be acceptable.
