Adoption Contributions
At Northern Fenix Parrot Rescue, our priority is always the welfare of the birds in our care and finding them the right, suitable home.
Our rescue birds are not for sale.
When a bird is successfully matched with an approved home, a Required Adoption Contribution applies as part of our adoption process.
An adoption contribution is not a sale price and does not represent the commercial or monetary value of an individual bird. Contributions help support the wider work of Northern Fenix and allow us to continue rescuing, rehabilitating and caring for birds in need.
What do adoption contributions help towards?
Every contribution goes directly back into supporting the rescue and the birds in our care. This includes:
• Veterinary care and medication
• Food and appropriate diets
• Quarantine and rehabilitation
• Heating and electricity
• Cleaning and hygiene supplies
• Cages, carriers and other equipment
• Perches, toys and enrichment
• Rescue and veterinary transport
• Assessment and ongoing care
• The continued care of birds awaiting suitable homes
Some birds may require very little veterinary treatment or rehabilitation, while others may require months of care and considerable expense. This does not change their standard adoption contribution.
Northern Fenix uses an internal standard contribution schedule based on species or species group. This helps us ensure that contributions are applied fairly and consistently.
We do not increase an adoption contribution because a bird talks, is particularly tame, is hand-reared, is male or female, or has a sought-after colour or mutation. Likewise, the contribution is not increased because an individual bird has required extensive veterinary treatment or rehabilitation.
Bonded Birds
Where birds have been assessed by Northern Fenix as genuinely bonded, their welfare and their need to remain together will be taken into consideration as part of the adoption process. Where it is in their best interests, bonded birds will be rehomed together.
How much is the adoption contribution?
We do not publicly advertise individual adoption contribution amounts.
The applicable Required Adoption Contribution will be discussed privately with genuine prospective adopters as part of the adoption process.
All successful adopters of birds within the same species or species group are subject to the same standard contribution.
Any additional amount that an adopter voluntarily chooses to give above the required contribution is entirely optional and will be recorded separately as a voluntary donation to Northern Fenix Parrot Rescue.
Our priority will always be finding the right home for the bird — never the highest financial contribution.
