Putting Bird Welfare First
Northern Fenix Parrot Rescue is committed to protecting the welfare, safety and future of every bird that comes into our care. Our policies are designed to ensure that decisions are made in the best interests of the individual bird.
Rehabilitation & Assessment
All birds entering Northern Fenix undergo an appropriate period of rehabilitation and assessment before being considered for adoption.
Every bird is treated as an individual. We take time to understand their health, behaviour, personality, needs and history. Where appropriate, veterinary checks and DNA sexing are also carried out.
No Breeding of Rescue Birds
Birds adopted or cared for through Northern Fenix must not be used for breeding.
Our purpose is rescue, rehabilitation and responsible rehoming. We do not breed birds in our care or permit adopted Northern Fenix birds to be used for breeding.
Wing Clipping
Northern Fenix does not support routine wing clipping.
We believe birds should be allowed to express their natural behaviours wherever safely possible. A corrective trim would only be considered where necessary for a genuine safety or medical reason and, where applicable, with the owner's permission.
Adoption & Lifelong Protection
All Northern Fenix adoptions are subject to our adoption process and paperwork.
Adoption donations are non-refundable.
Ownership of birds adopted through Northern Fenix remains with Northern Fenix Parrot Rescue, and every adoption includes a mandatory return clause.
If an adopter's circumstances change and they can no longer care for the bird, the bird must be returned to Northern Fenix. The bird must not be sold, given away, passed to another person or organisation, or used for breeding.
Surrender & Confidentiality
We understand that surrendering a bird can be difficult. Surrender enquiries are handled with compassion and without judgement.
Information provided to Northern Fenix is handled responsibly and is only used where necessary for the care, welfare and administration of the rescue.
Home-Based Rescue
Northern Fenix is a home-based rescue. For the privacy and security of the rescue and the welfare of the birds, our full address is not publicly displayed.
Visits are strictly by prior arrangement only.
