Meet The Team

Northern Fenix Parrot Rescue is supported by a dedicated team who bring together knowledge, qualifications, practical experience and a shared commitment to bird welfare.

Although each member of our team has their own role and responsibilities, we work together and share our experience to ensure the birds entrusted to Northern Fenix receive the care, understanding and protection they deserve.

Muriel PattonFounder, Chair & Trustee

Muriel is the Founder of Northern Fenix Parrot Rescue and oversees the day-to-day running and development of the rescue.

Alongside her extensive hands-on experience caring for and working with birds, Muriel has qualifications in animal welfare and brings both practical knowledge and education to her role within Northern Fenix.

Her responsibilities include overseeing bird welfare, rehabilitation, surrenders and adoptions, as well as helping guide the overall direction and development of the charity.

As Chair and Trustee, Muriel works alongside the other trustees to ensure Northern Fenix is managed responsibly, while keeping the welfare and individual needs of the birds at the heart of the rescue.

DylanCo-Founder & Junior Rescue Volunteer

Dylan is the Co-Founder of Northern Fenix Parrot Rescue and has been part of the rescue from the very beginning.

A passionate animal lover, Dylan has developed considerable hands-on experience caring for and working with a wide variety of birds. He has worked with birds of different species, personalities and needs, including birds that can be challenging and require additional patience, confidence and understanding.

As a Junior Rescue Volunteer, Dylan helps with the day-to-day care of the birds and supports their welfare, enrichment and rehabilitation alongside the rest of the Northern Fenix team.

His knowledge continues to grow through practical, hands-on experience, and he plays an active and valued role in the rescue he helped to establish.

Sandra LavertyTrustee & Volunteer Coordinator

Sandra serves as a Trustee and Volunteer Coordinator for Northern Fenix Parrot Rescue.

Alongside her responsibilities as a trustee, Sandra oversees our volunteers and helps ensure everyone working with Northern Fenix understands and follows our procedures, boundaries and standards.

Her role helps ensure volunteers receive appropriate guidance and support while maintaining the standards needed to protect the birds, the rescue and the charity.

As a Trustee, Sandra also works alongside the wider trustee team in the governance and responsible management of Northern Fenix.

Emma DoeyTrustee & Treasurer

Emma serves as a Trustee and Treasurer of Northern Fenix Parrot Rescue.

While Emma has responsibility for helping oversee the charity's finances and financial records, her contribution to Northern Fenix goes much further than her role as Treasurer.

Emma also brings considerable hands-on experience caring for and working with birds and contributes that practical knowledge to the rescue alongside her trustee responsibilities.

She works with the other trustees to support good governance, responsible financial management and the continued development of Northern Fenix, while sharing the team's commitment to the welfare of the birds in our care.

Christopher DoeyTrustee, Bird Care & Welfare

Christopher serves as a Trustee of Northern Fenix Parrot Rescue and brings extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in bird care and maintenance to the team.

His experience provides valuable practical support in relation to the care, welfare, environment and day-to-day needs of the birds within the rescue.

Christopher takes an active interest in the rescue birds and contributes his knowledge and experience wherever it can benefit their care and rehabilitation.

Alongside his bird-care role, Christopher shares the responsibilities of the trustee team in helping ensure Northern Fenix is responsibly managed and that bird welfare remains central to the charity's work.

Sharon CanmoreVolunteer, Bird Care & Welfare

Sharon is a valued volunteer with Northern Fenix Parrot Rescue and brings extensive knowledge and experience in bird care to the team.

She provides practical support with the care and welfare of our birds and contributes her knowledge and experience to help ensure their individual needs are understood and appropriately supported.

Sharon works alongside the wider Northern Fenix team and within our welfare procedures and standards, helping us provide safe, responsible and compassionate care for the birds entrusted to us.

Laura McCloskeyVolunteer

Laura is one of the newest members of the Northern Fenix team and is currently completing her volunteer training.

She helps with a little bit of everything and is learning the different aspects of supporting the rescue.

As her training progresses, Laura will continue gaining knowledge and practical experience while working alongside the team and following Northern Fenix's welfare and volunteer procedures.

Grahame AllenTransport Volunteer

Graham supports Northern Fenix Parrot Rescue as our Transport Volunteer.

He helps with transport when required, supporting the safe movement of birds and assisting the rescue with transport-related needs.

As part of the Northern Fenix volunteer team, Graham works within our procedures and welfare standards, helping ensure the safety and wellbeing of the birds during transport.

Working Together for the Birds

Every member of Northern Fenix brings something different to the rescue. Across our team we have qualifications, practical knowledge and extensive hands-on experience in bird and animal care, alongside experience in charity governance, finance and volunteer oversight.

Although everyone has their own role and responsibilities, we work together as a team and share our knowledge and experience wherever it is needed.

What unites us is our commitment to protecting the welfare of the birds entrusted to Northern Fenix and providing them with the care, rehabilitation and support they deserve.
