We were formed in 2000 by residents who were interested in what was happening in our local community of Lickey & Marlbrook and how we could help to improve things. Since then, we have developed links with the Parish, District & County Councils, the local Police, the Environment Agency and our local MP Sajid Javid, in order to discuss the many issues raised by residents. A substantial grant was obtained, as the results of our efforts, to improve the safety and appearance of the Old Birmingham Road and Lickey Square junction. We also attend the monthly Parish Council meetings in order to learn what is happening in our area and hear about new local planning applications.

Over the past few years our major concern has been the amount of material deposited on the Marlbrook Tip and what is going to happen with the site. As part of our on-going efforts, we participate in the Marlbrook Tip Working Party meetings at the Council House. Staff from the Environment Agency and Worcestershire Regulatory Services, who have direct influence over what happens on the Tip, also attend this meeting together with local Councillors and other interested Groups.

We were, in 2011 and again in 2020 very active in fighting against the possible reductions in local bus services. Most of our members live along, or just off, the Old Birmingham Road in Lickey and Marlbrook so we had a particular interest in the 202 route. Currently, our main interests also include Public transport - Flooding - Car Parking and traffic near Lickey School - Fly-tipping & Litter - Road Repairs - Road sweeping - Planning Applications and High House Wood. Please contact us if you wish to be involved in any of these campaigns, or you would like the Lickey Community Group to look at anything else

You would be most welcome as a member of our active Group. We send newsletters and email alerts with any up-to-date local information. The current membership fee is £6 per household p.a. The Annual General Meeting is usually held at the Trinity Centre sometime in April or May. It takes the form of short formal proceedings and followed by Guest Speakers and then light refreshments. This gives everyone an opportunity to chat with the Committee and meet other Group members. If you wish to apply to join our Group, or would like a complimentary copy of our digital Newsletter, please complete your details on the contact link.
