The Forest 290 Birmingham Road, Lickey End, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire  B60 1JH

This Harvester pub has now closed ready for refurbishment and reopening in late August 2019 as part of the Ego chain. It will be called Ego at The Forest, keeping the original Forest name. The black & white photo (pre M42) shows Lickey End heading towards Bromsgrove at the top. Right hand side Birmingham Road, left Old Birmingham Road, with Staple Flat joining far left.

A A & R A C Boxes

These boxes were very common, but no of course, they have all gone. There was an R A C box outside the Marlbrook pub, and an A A Box at Lydiate Ash These OS maps dated from 1968.

Lickey End police station  312 Birmingham Road B61 0HJ

The first photo was the police station 312 Birmingham Road, and the second one was the police house 310 Birmingham Road. In the 1940s & 502 the policeman was a Mr Webb. In the 1980s it was a private residence, and one bedroom was the 'station'  with its own front door and bathroom. There was also a four minute nuclear warning box on the wall in the hall.
