"The Old School House" Lickey Church School, originally known as North Bromsgrove Church of England School and was built before the Church at Lickey. It is on the junction of Twatling Road and Old Birmingham Road. It was used for worship for two years till Holy Trinity was consecrated in 1856. After WW2 it moved to a new site. It is still there, now called Lickey Hills Primary School. One of the headmistresses Miss (or Mrs.) Grundy, and was a strong character my all accounts. The building was offered to 1st Lickey Scout group around 1960 and was used by them until the end of 2005 when the Lickey Church did not renew the lease and subsequently sold the building for offices. Now it is a private residence.

Harvest Energy Lynwood Petrol Station - 330 Old Birmingham Rd, Lickey, Birmingham B45 8ES

The photo shows the petrol station in 2019 with the access to Lynwood Way next to the wooden fence. The white property next door is split into flats, and possibly a semi detached house. It  looks very much like it was the black & white photo below , and we are assuming that this was Monument Stores. It may have been that the original Monument Stores moved to the property next door, which has now been demolished to make way for Lynwood Way.

We are assuming this advert from Bromsgrove Messenger 28 February 1931 is for the petrol station in Rose Hill - If anyone can confirm this please let us know - thanks

Monument Stores near to the Jet Petrol Station Old Birmingham Road - close to number 322

The photographs show how the buildings & shop have changed. The black and white photo is when Norman & Elizabeth Riches ran the general store which we think also sold alcohol in the 1950s, their daughter Alice would do deliveries by van The colour photo taken later, possibly the 1960s show how the general store became the "Galleon Wines" an off-licence and the house was changed to the Monument Stores, Mr & Mrs Starkey ran it. In the late 1960s/early 1970s the off- licence was run by Peter and Joan Hadley, Peter was an ex police officer. He was a stickler for not selling cigarettes or alcohol to young teenagers, but he was a good sort, and you could always talk to him, and he was able to help sort out teenage squabbles.Other names have been provided for both building of the families who ran the various business, but we are not too sure which business they related to. The names are Mr & Mrs Young, and the Nash family,  If anyone can clarify these ,please let us know.
