Reports Mixed Friendlies

FRIENDLY HOME TO WHITEHALL 28th AUGUST

This is the first time that Whitehall have come to us we usually

only go away to them, it turned out that for a change we loaned them

1 player (their player was taken ill that morning ) Steve Hewish

was contacted and played for them.

Joyce Leach, Steve Nichols, Michelle Dixon won 14 - 10

Sheila Johnson, Dave Johnson, Sandra Nichols, lost 12-13

Pauline Cook, Doug McDowell, Dee Bates won 10-9

all very close games, well done

FRIENDLY AWAY TO SOUTHEND 22nd AUGUST

On a day when 2 league games were being played and the A

team had their annual BBQ we still managed to take 3 teams

to Southend, it was good to see 6 new bowlers playing and enjoying

the lovely weather and hospitality, their green played well and was very

similar to ours.

Joyce Leach, John Friend and David Palmer were level at 14 ends but lost

the next 4. 14-19.

Helen White, Steve Hewish, Michael Colla and Ken Pipe   were well

ahead but managed to lose the last end by 7 to lose 17-18

Lorraine Colla, Doug McDowell and myself found 11 to be the new 13

we got stuck on it for 10 ends. 12 - 20.

FRIENDLY AWAY TO HUTTON POPS 20th AUGUST

On a green that was very heavy we managed to win on one rink

FRIENDLY AGAINST INGATESTONE 29th JUNE AWAY

What a lovely afternoon the sun shone the grass was good and the

company was excellent, on our rink the banter went on all afternoon but didn't

stop the excellent bowling, we had a new player with us Helen who played well

and asked if all the friendly games were so nice ( we hope so).

on our rink we lost on the last end as did Steve's rink

FRIENDLY AGAINST FORD SPORTS 23rd JUNE AT HOME

On a lovely sunny afternoon Fords came with spare players who rolled up

and played half a game, we were lucky they did because Steve became unwell and had

to pull out of the game. so they loaned us a player. I was nice to see Steve Nichols play

in his first friendly.

FRIENDLY AGAINST HUTTON POPLARS SATURDAY 8th JUNE

Quite a reasonable friendly game though a lot of Hutton usual faces were

missing.

Jill, Michael Y and Christine were our only winning rink 19 - 15

Pauline, Hazel and Steve lost 14 - 19

FRIENDLY AGAINST MEMORIAL PARK SATURDAY 1ST JUNE

What a lovely sunny afternoon to play bowls, they turned up with 1 player missing

then realized that 1 person had entered his name twice, but we managed with Jill playing for the opposition

in a pairs game.

Sheila, Winston and Dave Johnson had a convincing win 21 - 10

Gordon & Ron won 17 - 14

Jean, Dee & Steve won 29 - 12

Pauline, Hazel and David Palmer won 26 - 5

Nice afternoon in the sunshine, pity we had to play triples to their rinks,

all enjoyed sausage rolls and cakes.

Friendly against Great Wakering

For a club of our size it was rather pathetic that I had to recruit 2 players from

tea duty when I only needed 9 player, and a big thank you to Hazel for stepping

in to do the teas.

It was a very pleasant afternoon with lovely friendly people, we only managed one

winning rink Edith, Barbara and David Palmer 17-13, Pauline, Michael Yates and Dave Johnson lost 10-22

and Jill, Sheila and Dee 17-24.
